You haven’t completed your PowerTeacher Gradebook training, but you can’t let the pile build up any more.

Is there a way you can get these assignments entered before finishing the entire training?

The answer is yes! You can dive right in and use the gradebook immediately to enter assignments and scores.

Follow the steps below to learn how to enter assignments and scores.

How to Create Assignments

To get started on adding an assignment for your first-period class, click the Assignments tab.

Click the right arrow to continue.

Click the + sign at the bottom of the Assignments pane to create a new assignment.

In the New Assignment pane, enter the name of the assignment.

Since this assignment is for your biology class, enter Local Ecosystems .

Once you enter the assignment name, a suggested abbreviation appears in the Abbreviation field automatically.

You can change the abbreviation, but for this assignment, the default wording is appropriate.

Next, select a category for the assignment.

“Local Ecosystems” is a homework assignment, so open the Category menu and choose Homework .

Then choose the type of score for the assignment.

You’re going to mark homework assignments using points, so for the Score Type menu, use the default selection of Points .

For the number of points possible, use the default value of 10 for this assignment.

Note: You can modify the points as well as most other default values for each assignment, as needed.

Next, enter the due date for the assignment by opening the calendar and clicking the date.

Then, verify that Include in Final Grade is checked so that the assignment is considered in the calculation of the students’ final grades.

Since students and parents will be able to view the assignment description in the PowerSchool Student and Parent Portals, enter one that will provide them with information about the assignment.

Click Save once the assignment information is complete.

Once saved, the new assignment appears in the list of assignments in the upper pane.

Now that you’ve learned how to enter assignments, scroll down to practice adding a new assignment.
